Homeschool Legislation Primer 2011

SCHEA has not come out in support of any one of the bills.  We are providing this information to our members and fellow homeschoolers as a service so they can educate themselves on the issues and specifics of the bills.  Please prayerfully consider how God is leading you to advocate in this legislative session.

It is our understanding that during the next few weeks, a subcommittee of House Education Committee (HEC) members will be meeting four times to merge the three bills into one bill, which will be recommended as Ought To Pass (OTP) by the HEC to the full House of Representatives.  If it passes the House, it will move on to the Senate where it will be referred to the Senate Education Committee for hearings before being brought back to the floor for a vote. (The link above takes you the the docket for HB301 for dates and times of subcommittee meetings.)

Here's a variety of links about the bills introduced Jan. 2011

.HB301
HB595
HB545
Here's a chart put together by NH Parents' First of the three bills.

A local homeschooling mom, Home Education Advisory Committee member and activist in the state, Christine Hamilton, has a great legislative tracking website. You can visit it here:  Beaver Lodge HS 2011 Legislative Tracker
